AI Hearing Aids
Updated October 2026
TL;DR: Every major brand now ships AI hearing aids, and the real differences are what each AI is built to fix: noise from every direction, group conversations, wind, or a room that keeps changing. Pick the AI that matches your hardest listening moment, then check that the feature you want lives at the level you're buying.
Shopping for AI hearing aids right now feels a little like shopping for a "smart" toaster. The word is on every box, and it can mean anything from a clever dedicated chip to a program that switches when the room gets loud. In the last few months Phonak, ReSound, Oticon, Signia and Starkey all launched new generations, so most of what you read online is already a model behind.
If you already have an audiogram, upload your audiogram and our team can tell you which of these suits your hearing. No audiogram yet? Our free online hearing test takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
What AI Actually Does in a Hearing Aid
AI in a hearing aid means a deep neural network, a model trained on huge libraries of real-world sound, that decides in real time what is speech and what is noise. That matters because older hearing aids could only turn sounds up or down by category, while a trained network can pull a voice out of the clatter around it.
A traditional hearing aid hears a busy restaurant as one loud blob and turns the whole blob down, voices included. A neural network has heard millions of restaurants, so it recognizes the shape of a voice inside that blob and lifts it while the dishes and the music stay in the background. The network does this many times a second, which is why speed is the spec manufacturers brag about most. In a review of AI hearing aid studies, response speed was the most frequently cited factor in performance, named in 41.6% of the studies.
-
Speech separation. The network isolates voices from background noise, so you get clearer speech without everything else getting louder too.
-
Scene recognition. It identifies where you are, a car, a café, a quiet living room, and changes settings without you touching anything.
-
Direction. Several platforms combine AI with microphones and motion sensors to focus where you're looking or where the talker is.
-
Learning your habits. Some systems adjust to the changes you make in the app, so you make fewer of them over time.
For the deeper mechanics, our guide to how AI noise reduction works walks through it step by step.
Dedicated AI Chip or Built-In AI?
Some AI hearing aids give the neural network its own chip, and others build it into the main processor. Both approaches work, but they trade processing muscle against battery life.
A dedicated chip can run a bigger network continuously, which is why Phonak's DEEPSONIC chip in the previous generation could perform 7.7 billion operations every second. The cost is power, and bigger brains get hungrier. The new Phonak Audéo EON shows the tradeoff neatly: both styles top out around 38 hours, but Phonak rates the Sphere models, which carry the dedicated HYPERSONIC AI chip, for about 22 hours of expected use, and the R models without it for about 29. Built-in AI, like Starkey's G4 processor with a neural network baked into the silicon, sips less power, which is part of why Omega AI+ reaches up to 51 hours on the RIC RT.
-
Dedicated AI chip: Phonak EON Sphere, ReSound Vivia, Widex Allure.
-
AI built into the main processor: Starkey Omega AI+ and Signia Pure Charge&Go MaX.

Phonak Audéo EON Sphere
EON Sphere is the noise specialist. Its dedicated AI chip runs Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, which separates voices from noise all around you, and Phonak reports up to a 10 dB SNR benefit in loud noise. The feature now reaches the E50 level too, but only on Phonak Audéo EON E90 Sphere and its Sphere siblings, not the EON R models. Browse the full lineup in our Phonak hearing aids collection, or read our Phonak Audéo EON explainer.
Starkey Omega AI+
If your days refuse to sit still, Omega AI+ keeps up. Edge Mode, Starkey's heavy-duty setting for hard listening, now runs from power-up instead of waiting for a tap, and the DNN Dual Compressor switches between crisp speech and natural sound as you listen. According to Starkey, it processes sound up to 2.7 times faster than leading DNN hearing aids. It also adds sleep tracking, with the catch that you wear your hearing aids to bed. It's not on our site yet, so call us for pricing, and see our Omega AI+ vs Omega AI comparison for whether the plus is worth it. More Starkey hearing aids are in the collection.
ReSound Sensia and Vivia
Two AI lines now share the same tiny microRIE size. ReSound Sensia 9 microRIE adds Intelligent All-Around, which senses the room, follows the direction you turn your head and adjusts speech clarity on its own, and ReSound reports 88% greater accuracy in classification and feature engagement than the closest premium competitor. ReSound Vivia 9 microRIE runs Intelligent Focus on a dedicated DNN chip and boosts speech wherever you're looking. Both signature features live at level 9. Our Sensia vs Vivia breakdown covers what actually changed, and the ReSound hearing aids collection has every level.
Oticon Reveal
Reveal takes a different angle: two AI systems working together, one for speech and one for the sounds around it, so you hear the conversation without losing the room. Oticon Reveal 2 miniRITE R suppresses up to 10 dB of noise in difficult scenes, and Oticon reports up to 40 dB attenuation of wind and handling noise, which golfers and dog walkers will appreciate. Reveal 1, with up to 12 dB of suppression and 64 channels, is available by phone, so call us for pricing. Read our Oticon Reveal guide or browse Oticon hearing aids.
Signia Pure Charge&Go MaX
MaX is built for the dinner table with six people talking at once. Signia's Acoustic Intelligence platform runs four neural networks, and its RealTime Conversation Enhancement AI tracks and lifts several speakers at the same time instead of locking onto one. Signia reports that 97% of wearers performed better in noisy group conversations than with competing devices. Signia Pure Charge&Go MaX 7 is Auracast ready, with full support coming in a firmware update. See all Signia hearing aids.
Widex Allure
Natural sound comes first on Allure, with the AI waiting until you ask for it. Clarity Boost switches on a dedicated AI co-processor with a tap or the app, and Widex reports up to 6 dB higher output SNR than competitors when it's on. Clarity Boost comes on the 440 and 330 levels, including the Widex Allure 440 RIC R D. Browse Widex hearing aids.
Previous Generation, Still Worth Buying
Last year's AI is still very good AI, and it costs less right now. A previous-generation top level often matches or beats a new lower level, so these are worth a hard look if price matters.

Signature AI |
Why It Still Earns a Spot |
|---|---|---|
|
Spheric Speech Clarity 2.0 on the DEEPSONIC AI chip |
The dedicated AI chip that started the race, still excellent in noise |

DNN noise management |
Health tracking and long battery life at a lower price point |
One honest caveat: the Infinio generation streams over Bluetooth Classic and doesn't list Auracast, so if broadcast audio in airports and theaters matters to you, go current.
Matching the AI to Your Hardest Listening Moment
The fastest way to choose is to name the situation that wears you out most, then pick the AI built for it. Every current AI model handles everyday listening well. They pull apart in the hard moments.

What Are the Disadvantages of AI Hearing Aids?
The main downsides are battery drain, a higher price at the top levels, and features that only exist at certain levels. None of them is a dealbreaker, but each one is worth knowing before you buy.
-
AI costs battery. A dedicated AI chip working hard drains the battery faster. Phonak rates EON Sphere for about 22 hours of expected use against about 29 for the EON R without the AI chip.
-
The headline feature may not be at your level. Intelligent All-Around is Sensia 9 only, Clarity Boost is Allure 440 and 330 only, and Spheric Speech Clarity is Sphere models only. Always check the level, not just the line, or send us your audiogram and we'll tell you which level carries the feature your hearing needs.
-
Some features are still on the way. Signia MaX and Widex Allure are Auracast ready, with full support arriving by firmware update.
-
"AI" is a loose label. It shows up on everything from dedicated neural network chips to basic automatic programs. Look for the platform name and the specific feature, not the sticker.
-
Your brain still needs time. Even the smartest AI hearing aid takes a couple of weeks to feel natural, because your brain has to adjust to hearing more.

Does Costco Have AI Hearing Aids?
Yes, Costco sells hearing aids with AI features, mostly through its own Kirkland Signature line plus a few branded models. For plenty of people, that's a reasonable choice.
The differences are selection and care. Costco's lineup is built around its own channel, so if you have your heart set on one of the newest lines, check that the exact model is on the shelf. Fittings and adjustments also happen in the warehouse, so every tweak means an appointment and a drive. With remote care, your licensed hearing care provider fits and adjusts your hearing aids by phone or video, and adjustments are unlimited for as long as you own them.
If you're weighing the two, our take on whether Costco hearing aids are as good breaks it down. Some people need or prefer in-person care, and a warehouse hearing center is the right call for them. Different paths, same goal.
Getting AI Hearing Aids Fitted from Home
An AI hearing aid is only as good as its fitting, because the network works from the settings your provider builds around your audiogram. We program your hearing aids to your hearing profile before they ship, using the same official manufacturer software clinics use, then your licensed hearing care provider fits them by phone or video after they arrive.
We're an authorized retailer for Phonak, Starkey, ReSound, Signia, Oticon and Widex, so every hearing aid we sell comes genuine, with the full manufacturer warranty and a 60-day risk-free trial. The hearing aids are identical to what any clinic sells. The professional care is identical. The price is not. That's the Injoy difference. AI Hearing Aids: Your Questions Answered
Are AI hearing aids worth the extra cost?
For most people who spend time in noisy places, yes. The newest AI platforms make speech easier to follow in noise, Phonak reports up to a 10 dB SNR benefit in loud noise, and Signia reports 97% of wearers did better in noisy group conversations. If your days are mostly quiet, a previous-generation model or a lower level can deliver most of the benefit for less. Our team can help you figure out exactly what's right for you.
Do I need the top level to get the AI?
Not always. Most levels in a current line use AI in some form, but the signature features often sit at the top one or two levels. Intelligent All-Around is Sensia 9 only, and Clarity Boost is Allure 440 and 330. Check the feature against the level before you buy.
Which AI hearing aid has the longest battery life?
Starkey Omega AI+ and Omega AI on the RIC RT, at up to 51 hours on a charge. Phonak EON Sphere reaches up to 38 hours, and ReSound Sensia, ReSound Vivia and Signia MaX each reach up to 30. Heavy streaming and loud environments shorten every one of them.
Can I adjust an AI hearing aid myself?
Yes, within limits. Every current AI model has an app for volume, programs and quick changes, and several let you switch AI features on or off. The core programming still needs a licensed hearing care provider and the manufacturer's software, and with us, those adjustments are unlimited.
Do AI hearing aids need to be professionally fitted?
Yes. The AI works from your audiogram and the fitting your provider builds, so a precise fitting is what makes the technology pay off. We fit every device remotely by phone or video, then keep fine-tuning as you adjust.
