ZipHearing Reviews: Remote Support or a Local Referral Network
TL;DR: ZipHearing sends you to a vetted local office for fitting and covers follow-up visits for the first year, then charges a capped per-visit fee. We fit remotely by phone or video and include adjustments for the life of the device. Same manufacturers, different aftercare math.
Most ZipHearing reviews answer one question, which is whether the company is legitimate. It is. The manufacturers are real, the providers are licensed, the warranty is the manufacturer's own.
The question those reviews rarely reach is what happens the second time your prescription needs a nudge, eighteen months in, when the novelty has worn off and your ears have not stopped changing. That is the real split between ZipHearing and Injoy Hearing. If you want to see the catalog while you read, our full range of hearing aids is open, every device carries a 60-day trial, and a product specialist can price out a specific model with you before you commit to anything.

What ZipHearing Is, and What It Is Not
ZipHearing is not a mail-order box shop, and reviews that treat it as one miss the model entirely. It works as a buying network. You contact ZipHearing, it points you to a partner practice near you, and that practice does the testing, the fitting, and the in-person care.
Their own site describes a network of more than 600 partner hearing care offices nationwide, with devices shipped from the manufacturer to the provider rather than to your door. The provider programs them before you ever put them in.
That is a real advantage, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Face-to-face care has virtues that a screen does not replicate:
-
Physical inspection. Someone can look in your ear canal, spot wax or drainage, and act on it the same hour.
-
Hands-on fit checks. A provider can reseat a receiver, swap a dome, and watch your face when the whistling stops.
-
Local continuity. If you like the person who fit you, you can keep seeing that person.
How the Purchase Runs
The sequence is straightforward. You call, you get matched to a partner office, you go in for a hearing evaluation, and the fitting happens at that office once the order arrives. The provider handles programming and any fine-tuning during the covered window.
A few things sit outside the device price on their published terms. The hearing test is set by the individual provider and may carry a fee. Custom earmolds carry a separate charge. Accessories such as television streamers are priced on top.
What the Purchase Includes
Per ZipHearing's published policies, a purchase comes with professional fitting, starter supplies such as cleaning tools and wax filters, a three-year manufacturer warranty covering repairs plus loss and damage, and in-person follow-up care through the first year. Loss and damage claims carry a per-device deductible, which is standard across the industry and not a knock on them.
The trial runs 45 days. That number matters later, so hold onto it.
How Injoy Works by Comparison
We are an authorized online retailer, and we sell the same prescription hearing aids the clinics sell. The difference is where the professional care happens. Our licensed hearing care providers fit you by phone or video, adjust your prescription remotely, and stay with you afterward.
We are online only. No in-person appointments, no diagnostic testing. Your audiogram comes from an outside provider or from our free online hearing test, and we program from that.
What that buys you is time and access. There is no drive, no waiting room, and no calendar to negotiate with when your prescription needs a small change. If you want the mechanics in detail, we walk through them in how the hearing aid process works.
The evidence behind remote fitting is not thin. A published comparison of face-to-face and remote fitting found no significant differences in satisfaction, quality of care, or hearing outcomes between the two approaches. That is one study, not a settled science, and we treat it that way. We have also written about remote versus in-person hearing aid fittings at length, including the cases where in-person wins.

Two notes on reading that table fairly. Their capped per-visit fee is modest by clinic standards, and their founder has publicly indicated the fee structure may change, so check it directly before you buy. And a per-device deductible on loss and damage is normal, not a trap.
What Year Two of Ownership Looks Like
This is the part most ZipHearing reviews skip, because year two is boring until it is yours.
Hearing changes, and so do the rooms you spend your life in. A retirement, a new grandchild, a move to a noisier apartment, a bout of wax buildup, a receiver that needs replacing. Any of those can call for a programming change, and almost nobody gets through four years of ownership without needing one.
Under the network model, year one is covered and then the meter starts. It is a capped, reasonable, per-visit fee, but it is a fee, and it applies each time. It also runs on a physical calendar. You need an opening at that office, a drive, and a slot that fits your week.
Under our model, the second year works like the first:
-
Adjustments stay included. Unlimited remote adjustments, for the life of the device, at no added cost.
-
Scheduling stays light. A phone or video session, from wherever you happen to be.
-
The provider stays licensed. Post-sale programming and fitting is always handled by a licensed hearing care provider, never by a sales rep.

Over four years of ownership, the gap is not dramatic in dollars. It is meaningful in friction. Small adjustments that cost a fee and a morning tend not to get made, and hearing aids that never get adjusted are the ones that end up in a drawer.

Catalog Depth and Brand Authorization
Both companies are legitimate sellers of prescription hearing aids from the major manufacturers, and both carry the manufacturer warranty that comes with authorized purchase. That is the floor, and plenty of online sellers do not clear it.
The catalogs overlap almost completely. Phonak, ReSound, Starkey, Signia, Oticon, and Widex show up on both sides. Some third-party reviews also list Unitron in ZipHearing's lineup, which we could not confirm on their own site, so treat that as unverified.
Where we differ is the over-the-counter tier. We carry Sennheiser All-Day Clear alongside the prescription lineup, and it gets the same 60-day trial as everything else we sell. That matters if you are not yet sure prescription is where you need to start.
On current-generation depth, our shelves run to the newest platforms:
-
Phonak Audeo Infinio Ultra Sphere I90 and I70, with the dual ERA and DEEPSONIC chips and real-time speech separation.
-
ReSound Vivia microRIE, running a dual chip design with fully active Auracast.
-
Starkey Omega AI, on the G3 Neuro Processor with DNN 360.
Buying online without a clinic relationship raises fair questions about who is accountable afterward. We answered those in detail in buying hearing aids without a local clinic, and the short version is that accountability has to be contractual rather than geographic.
Trial Length and Return Policy, Read Closely
Trial windows are where quiet differences live. ZipHearing publishes a 45-day risk-free trial with a full refund. We publish 60 days on every product, including the Sennheiser over-the-counter model, with details on our 60-day risk-free trial page.
Fifteen days sounds like a rounding error until you are inside it. Adaptation is not instant, and the research on acclimatization points the same direction our providers do: the brain needs weeks, not days, to stop treating restored sound as noise. Most people hit their honest verdict somewhere in week five or six.
Three things worth checking on any trial, ours included:
-
What triggers the clock. Purchase date, ship date, and fitting date are not the same day.
-
What comes back. Devices, chargers, accessories, and whether anything is non-refundable.
-
Who pays return shipping. It is a small number that surprises people.
Which Model Fits Which Person
We would rather you buy the right thing than buy from us. There are people the network model serves better.
Go with a local network purchase if you want hands-on care above all else, if you have complex ear anatomy or drainage history that calls for regular physical inspection, or if you flatly prefer sitting across from the person adjusting your prescription. Those are good reasons and we are not going to argue you out of them.
Choose remote care if the following sounds like your life:
-
Your schedule does not bend. You work, you travel, or you split the year between two places.
-
You expect to fine-tune often. Musicians, teachers, and people in noisy jobs adjust more than average.
-
You want the aftercare cost settled now. Included for the life of the device means one less variable in year three.
Neither path is a compromise on the hardware. The Phonak on a partner office desk and the Phonak in our warehouse are the same device with the same warranty.
ZipHearing Reviews: What Buyers Ask Before Choosing
Is ZipHearing a legitimate hearing aid retailer?
Yes. ZipHearing sells prescription hearing aids from major manufacturers through a nationwide network of partner hearing care offices, and purchases come with the manufacturer warranty. It is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, which is a business choice rather than a quality signal.
What do most ZipHearing reviews get wrong?
They tend to describe it as an online store. It is closer to a referral and buying network. You still get in-person testing, in-person fitting, and in-person follow-up care, just at network pricing rather than walk-in clinic pricing.
Does ZipHearing charge for follow-up appointments?
Follow-up care is included during the first year per their published policy. After that, appointments carry a capped per-visit fee. The amount is published on their site and their founder has indicated the structure may change, so confirm it before you buy.
How is Injoy different from ZipHearing?
We fit and adjust remotely by phone or video with our own licensed hearing care providers, and remote adjustments stay included for the life of the device. We also run a 60-day trial and a four-year warranty, against their 45-day trial and three-year warranty.
Can remote fitting match an in-person appointment?
For most fittings, the published comparisons say the outcomes hold up. A randomized crossover trial found remote follow-up delivered improvements that did not differ from in-person consultations. What remote care cannot do is look inside your ear canal, which is why we ask you to keep a local provider for physical checks.
What if I need an in-person appointment after buying from Injoy?
You can see any hearing care provider you like for cleanings, wax removal, and physical inspection, and many charge a modest visit fee for that. Programming and prescription changes stay with us, remotely, at no cost.
Which brands can I not get from either company?
Both carry Phonak, ReSound, Starkey, Signia, Oticon, and Widex. We also carry Sennheiser on the over-the-counter side, which ZipHearing's lineup does not list.
What after care will you want three years from now?
The hardware question is close to settled between us. Both sides sell authorized prescription hearing aids from the same six manufacturers, both include professional fitting, and both stand behind the warranty. If devices were the only variable, this comparison would be a coin flip.
What is left is how care reaches you and what it asks of you later. A local network gives you a face and a chair and a covered first year. We give you a licensed hearing care provider on a screen, a longer trial, a longer warranty, and adjustments that stay included after the first year ends and after the second one does too.
If you want to talk it through with a product specialist before you commit, reach out and ask the hard questions. The hearing aids are identical to what any clinic sells. The professional care is identical. The price is not. That's the Injoy difference.
