Allure picks up five connections Widex does not list for Moment Sheer, and each one either fits your life or doesn't:

• Android phones stream straight to Allure. Moment Sheer is listed only as ready for it, which in practice usually means an extra gadget.

• Hands-free calls on an iPhone let you talk without holding the phone, because the hearing aid microphones pick up your voice.

• Auracast lets airports, theaters and churches that have installed it send their sound directly to your hearing aids.

• LE Audio, the newer Bluetooth standard, is the radio that makes Auracast possible.

Moment Sheer wearers still hear a gate announcement through their microphones. What they miss is the clean broadcast feed Allure can pick up directly, the difference between hearing the announcement and hearing it clearly over a crowd.

The newer platform also brings processing Moment Sheer doesn't have. Widex added an AI noise program called Clarity Boost, along with Speech Enhancer Pro and a smarter system for stopping feedback whistle. Can a firmware update add Auracast to Moment Sheer?

No. Auracast runs on Bluetooth LE Audio, and Widex does not list LE Audio for Moment Sheer, so an update cannot add a radio the hardware does not carry. If broadcasts are on your list, Allure is the one to look at.

Which Widex Moment receiver lasts longer?
